In 2016 a small group of student journalists from the University of Manchester's student media collective Manchester Media Group organised the first-ever Women In Media Conference. Women In Media gives delegates the opportunity to celebrate and learn from successful women in journalism, radio, TV, blogging, PR and much more, through keynote speeches, panel sessions and workshops.
In 2018, we welcomed delegates from across the UK including Stirling, Bristol and London, and Women In Media 2019, #WIM19, saw more ticket sales than ever and the largest donation we've ever given to MASH - a staggering £2,147. Women In Media 2020 promises to be even bigger and more successful than last year – again, students and non-student delegates are both very welcome, and profits from our affordable ticket sales will be donated to local charity MASH (Manchester Action on Street Health).
We will again be hosting Women In Media at the People's History Museum in Manchester city centre, a museum championing "ideas worth fighting for", which perfectly reflects the values of our event.
